FROM FILE TO FINISHED

How it works

Give your JPG a PNG version for your next workflow. The converter keeps the current pixel dimensions and saves the decoded image as PNG, without another round of lossy JPG compression.

  1. 01

    Open a JPG or JPEG

Select your image or drag it into the tool. Both .jpg and .jpeg files use the same format and work here.

  2. 02

    Review the PNG

Check the image and output size. PNG preserves the decoded pixels, although its file can be larger than the source JPG.

  3. 03

    Save your new file

Download the PNG for your editor, presentation, or other app. Your original JPG remains available on your device.

SMALL TOOL. USEFUL DIFFERENCE.

Why use JPG to PNG?

Ready for your workflow

Get the file format required by your image editor or publishing process without installing conversion software.

No new JPG artifacts

PNG encoding is lossless. Converting avoids an additional lossy JPG encoding step while preserving the image as the browser decodes it.

Your files stay with you

The conversion runs in your browser, so you can make a PNG without sending the source image to AillFor or signing up.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Good to know.

Answers before you hit download.

Does JPG to PNG improve image quality?

It does not restore detail already lost to JPG compression. The PNG stores the image as it is decoded now and avoids introducing new JPG compression artifacts during this conversion. Existing blur or artifacts will still be visible.

Will my PNG have a transparent background?

No. A JPG has an opaque background, and changing the file format does not remove it. PNG can store transparency, but creating a transparent background requires a separate background removal or editing step.

Why is the PNG larger than the original JPG?

PNG uses lossless compression, while JPG reduces file size by discarding some image information. Photographs are often much larger as PNG. If your goal is a smaller file or a specific upload limit, try Compress Image or Compress to Size.
